Your company may have a particular culture that requires presence of a certain behavior, or you may have a particular leadership or management style you want to ensure your candidate had a good fit with. Behavior interview will help you examine whether that fit exists. When you are using a behavior interview you are essentially testing for the candidate’s emotional intelligence. Your questions would be aimed at having a candidate either give you an example of his/her behavior demonstrated in a particular situation, often challenging, which could include a relationship with a manager, co-worker or a difficult employee. You could also describe a hypothetical situation and ask an employee for his opinion on the most appropriate course of action. You want to see if he/she has the right judgment, consideration and self-awareness.
